Frequently asked questions

We collected the questions customers ask most often and answered them the way we would in the workshop.

Repairs

How do I know whether a repair is enough?
Place a two-euro coin over the damage. If it covers the lot, the damage sits outside the driver's direct field of view and no long cracks run out of it, a repair makes sense. Age matters too: damage that is three days old repairs far better than damage you have ignored for six months. If you are not sure, send us a photo on Facebook or by e-mail and we will look at it free of charge.

Replacement

How long does a windscreen replacement take?
The fitting itself takes 90 to 150 minutes, depending on the model and how it is equipped. On top of that comes the time the adhesive needs to reach the strength required for safe driving, usually another 60 to 90 minutes. In practice it means you bring the car in the morning and collect it in the afternoon.
Is aftermarket glass worse than OE?
Not automatically. Pilkington, Saint-Gobain Sekurit and AGC supply carmakers directly and sell the very same glass on the aftermarket, where it often differs only in the logo printed on it. Where we genuinely do recommend the original is cars with a heated windscreen, a head-up display or an acoustic layer, because there the alternatives really do differ from one another. For your car we will tell you which group it falls into.
How should I treat new glass in the first days?
For the first 24 hours leave one window open by a couple of millimetres, because slamming a door builds pressure against a seal that has not fully cured. Stay away from pressure washers and leave the tape around the trim in place for a day. You can drive as soon as the time we gave you at handover has passed. There is nothing more to it.

Insurance

Do I pay anything with comprehensive insurance?
With most comprehensive policies that include glass cover you pay nothing at all, or only the agreed excess. The insurer pays us directly for the glass and the labour against a cover note. Before we order anything we check what your policy actually covers and tell you the exact amount you would top up, because nobody likes a surprise at handover.
Do I have to report the claim in person?
No. We are a contracted partner of nine insurers, so both the inspection and the report are handled here. All we need from you is the vehicle registration document, your ID and your policy number. The photo documentation, the report and the back and forth with the claims handler are on us.

Pricing

How much does a windscreen replacement cost?
We do not publish a price list, because with auto glass it would only mislead you. Depending on the equipment, a single model can take as many as eight different windscreens and the prices sit far apart. Ring us with the make, model and year. We work out the exact glass for your car from the VIN and give you a firm figure during the call, with no deposit and no obligation.
Why do prices differ for the same car?
The equipment decides, not the model. Two identical Octavias can take very different glass depending on whether they have heating, a rain sensor, an acoustic layer or a head-up display. That is why we never quote off the top of our head. We work out from the VIN which glass belongs in your car, and only then give you a firm figure.

Warranty

What warranty do you give?
We stand behind the bonded seal for as long as you own the car. If anything leaks or whistles after a replacement, we put it right, no argument. The glass itself carries the manufacturer warranty, normally 24 months. For a resin repair our guarantee is simple: if the damage spreads anyway, we take the price of the repair off a new windscreen.

Operations

Do I need an appointment?
Not for chip repairs. Come along any time during opening hours and we will sort it while you wait. For a replacement, yes, because the glass has to be ready and a bay set aside for you. Bookings and appointments go through the phone: 0915 276 235 and 0905 340 958.
Where are you and when are you open?
You will find us at Budovateľská 1288 in Vranov nad Topľou, five minutes from the centre, with a car park right in front of the workshop. We are open on working days from 08:00 to 16:00 and closed at weekends. Bookings and appointments: 0915 276 235 and 0905 340 958.
