Frequently asked questions
We collected the questions customers ask most often and answered them the way we would in the workshop.
Repairs
How do I know whether a repair is enough?
Place a two-euro coin over the damage. If it covers it completely, the damage is outside the driver's direct field of view and no long cracks run from it, a repair makes sense. Age matters too. Send us a photo and we will assess it free of charge.
Replacement
How long does a windscreen replacement take?
The fitting itself takes 90 to 150 minutes depending on the model. Add the time for the adhesive to reach safe drive-away strength — usually 60 to 90 minutes — plus calibration if the car has an ADAS camera. In practice: bring the car in the morning, collect it in the afternoon.
Is aftermarket glass worse than OE?
Not automatically. Pilkington, Saint-Gobain Sekurit and AGC supply carmakers directly and sell the same glass on the aftermarket, usually differing only in the logo print. Where we genuinely recommend OE is heated windscreens, head-up displays and acoustic laminates.
How should I treat new glass in the first days?
For the first 24 hours leave a window open by a few millimetres — slamming doors stresses a seal that has not fully cured. Avoid pressure washers and leave the tape around the trim on for a day. You can drive as soon as the stated safe drive-away time has passed.
Insurance
Do I pay anything with comprehensive insurance?
With most comprehensive policies including glass cover you pay nothing, or only the agreed excess. The insurer pays us directly against a cover note. We verify your cover before ordering anything and tell you the exact amount you would top up.
Do I have to report the claim in person?
No. We are a contracted partner of nine insurers, so the inspection and the report are handled on our premises. We need your registration document, ID and policy number. We take care of the rest.
ADAS
Why does the camera need recalibration?
The ADAS camera looks through the windscreen and its calculations rely on a precisely defined viewing angle. New glass sits microscopically differently in the frame — half a degree is enough for lane keeping to react early or late. Calibration restores the reference values and you receive a protocol.
Pricing
Why do prices differ for the same car?
Equipment decides, not the model. Two identical Octavias can take glass costing 160 or 480 euros depending on heating, rain sensor, acoustic layer, head-up display or ADAS camera. That is why we ask for the VIN.
Warranty
What warranty do you give?
We warrant the bonded seal for as long as you own the vehicle — any leak or wind noise after a replacement is fixed without discussion. The glass itself carries the manufacturer warranty, normally 24 months. For resin repairs: if the damage spreads anyway, we deduct the repair price from a new windscreen.
Operations
Do you provide a courtesy car?
For full-day jobs, yes — we keep two courtesy cars available free of charge. Capacity is limited, so mention it when booking and we will reserve one alongside the workshop slot.
Do you travel outside Vranov nad Topľou?
Yes. Resin repairs, side-glass replacement and insurance inspections are done at the customer's location. Travel within 25 km of Vranov nad Topľou is free.
Do I need an appointment?
Not for chip repairs — come during opening hours and we will take care of it while you wait. For replacements, yes, because the glass has to be ready and a bay reserved. Book by phone, e-mail or the form on this site; we confirm within two hours as a rule.
