Resin chip repair
A stone chip repaired while you wait. Have a coffee and drive away with glass that will not crack any further.
A stone thrown up by a lorry does damage in one second that can cost you a whole windscreen. The difference between a half-hour repair and a full replacement usually comes down to nothing more than how quickly you get to us.
We start by drying the damage and drawing the air and moisture out of it. Resin with a refractive index close to that of glass is then pushed into the cavity under pressure and cured under a UV lamp. The surface is levelled off with a blade and polished, so the wiper glides straight over it.
Once cured, the repaired spot stops moving and the glass there is back to its original strength. A faint mark does stay visible. We would rather say it plainly: a repair will not erase the damage, but it stops it and saves the glass.
We do not repair blindly. If the damage sits in the driver's direct field of view, is bigger than a two-euro coin or reaches the inner layer of the glass, we will advise against a repair and tell you exactly why. Safety matters more to us than one invoice.
